Cynthia Nixon ties the knot

May 29, 2012

Cynthia Nixon has married her long-term partner.

The actress and Christine Marinoni tied the knot in New York City yesterday, three years after getting engaged. Cynthia and Christine have been together since 2004 and became betrothed at a rally to support same-sex nuptials in 2009.

Their big day comes less than a year after gay marriage became legal in the American state.

"On May 27, 2012, Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, were legally married in the state of New York," her rep told US publication People in a statement. "Nixon wore a custom dress by Carolina Herrera."

In February last year, Christine gave birth to their son Max Ellington.

Cynthia also has two children with her former partner Danny Mozes.

The Sex and the City star previously revealed her and Christine were going to have a long engagement because they wanted to wait until gay marriage was legalised in their hometown of New York.

"I'm enjoying being engaged very much," Nixon said in 2010. "I don't mind a long engagement, which this one is surely turning out to be."
